All Wimpy restaurants are required to uphold our stringent food safety standards in order to make sure we serve fresh and quality meals. Wimpy restaurants are audited to make sure that all health and safety requirements are upheld.
Our suppliers are also required to adhere to our demanding food safety standards and are independently audited to make sure food safety requirements are maintained at all times.We take complaints related to our food very seriously and strive to respond to potential health and safety issues related to the food we serve as a priority. It’s important to us that our customers have a great experience at our restaurants and serving you a fresh, tasty and quality meal will always come first and foremost!

We aim to ensure that our food is sourced, produced, and grown in a responsible manner, which is why all the eggs we use to make our lekker brekkies are free range.
Given our commitment to packaging that doesn't harm the environment, we’ve launched the Wimpy Eco Cup, which is 100% compostable, biodegradable and recyclable . We’re also committed to only using paper straws in our restaurants, and have removed polystyrene containers from our restaurants.

But that’s not the only step we’ve taken to make our packaging as eco-friendly as possible. Noticed something different about the packaging on our Refresher Towels? We’ve made the switch from plastic to laminated paper foil packaging, allowing us to reduce our plastic footprint by 38%!
We continually improve the eco-efficiency of our operations to reduce our impact on the environment. We’ve done away with the wrapper on the complementary biscuit that comes with our coffees. This alone is expected to reduce our plastic footprint by 4 tons a year.
We support local
At Wimpy, we don’t just talk local; we source local, too. Our famous chips are made from proudly South African Herta & Van Der Plank cultivar potatoes, sourced from the Sandveld region. In addition, all our dairy is sourced from the Dairy Group, a manuafacturer that’s equally as passionate about sustainability as they are about uplifting local farmers. As for our coffee beans? They’re roasted right here in Mzansi. Even our menu is local and is available in all 11 official languages.
Community isn’t confined to Mzansi’s borders. We’ve developed long-lasting relationships with business partners who are serious about sustainability. Our 100% unadultered honey is provided by Musanya Honey Co; a company that aims to bring meaningful development to rural Zambia by working with local chiefs to give communities control of the honey production in their surroundings. Musanya Honey Co sources its honey from Miombo Woodlands, an ecoregion untouched by modern agriculture, pollution, pesticides or chemicals.
From a product perspective
We understand that our customers have diverse dietary needs, which is why we also serve vegetarian and vegan offerings, as well as low-carb menu items. We also have several Halaal-certified restaurants in our stable, and Halaal-suitable alternatives at selected restaurants.
Reach for a Dream
For more than 30 years, Reach For A Dream has been fulfilling the dreams of children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Since 2014, Wimpy has been a supporter of Slipper Day, which is Reach For A Dream's largest annual fundraiser. When Slipper Day was cancelled in 2020, because of lockdown restrictions, we created a donation portal on our website to keep on supporting this inspiring non-profit organisation.
