Michelle, based in Hillcrest, KZN, is known by most as StoriesbyShelley. She loves books and bringing stories to life. Raised in Amanzimtoti, Michelle credits her parents for her love for reading and telling stories. StoriesbyShelley was borne out of COVID-19 lockdown in a bid to bring communities together at a time when all had to be physically apart through a free online read-aloud story time platform. Her previous work includes children’s picture book, A Big Plate of Kindness.

Ellen Heydenrych is an illustrator and writer with a passion for picture books, a knack for narrative, and a pencil tucked behind her ear. Possessing a Master of Arts in Media Studies, Ellen approaches all creative work with deep care and consideration. Ellen has illustrated several children’s picture books, multiple adverts for DStv, and contributed editorial illustrations to the Mail&Guardian.
